Steps for Sight Research Project
Projects funded in 2024
In 2024, ACIS launched its third Steps
for Sight campaign, motivating
participants to walk 7,000 steps daily
to honor the 7,000 new patients
diagnosed worldwide each year.
ACIS has allocated $100,000 to fund
a collaborative research project with
MRA aimed at developing new
treatment options at Memorial Sloan
Kettering Cancer Center for a Pilot
Project. MRA and ACIS will continue
their partnership to support
scientists with innovative ideas.
A total of 637 individuals took part,
collectively achieving an impressive
32,321,474 steps throughout the
month, while raising $66,421 for the
cause.
The Melanoma Research Alliance
generously agreed to match the funds
raised by ACIS. Throughout the year,
ACIS and MRA diligently selected a
research project to support, which will
be announced to the public soon.
Additionally, ACIS has awarded a oneyear grant of $100,000 to Dr. William
Harbour and UT Southwestern for
research on uveal melanoma, marking
our second grant to Dr. Harbour.
Moreover, ACIS has provided funding
to 3T Ophthalmics to explore the
possibility of extending their current
retinoblastoma trial to include uveal
melanoma for primary tumor
treatment.
All research grants undergo thorough
evaluation by qualified independent
medical reviews and the ACIS medical
review board, ensuring patient input
is considered.
